FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 20, 2024
Lincoln, Neb. - On March 14 and 15, over 150 people gathered at the Younes Conference Center in Kearney, Neb. to attend the 2024 Nebraska Brain Injury Conference hosted by the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska. The day-and-a-half conference brought together brain injury professionals, caregivers, and individuals with brain injuries to learn about current topics in the field of brain injury and connect with one another.
The conference kicked off with a keynote presentation from Jon Pearson, Director of Creativity at QLI. Pearson shared a powerful presentation on learning how to see beyond an individual’s injury, situation, or struggle and immerse oneself in the person’s whole story.
Many other talented speakers contributed their knowledge and expertise to the conference, presenting on topics such as concussion management, artificial intelligence, dignity-based care and interventions, pain management after brain injury, assistive smart technology, and more. Made possible by the contributions of nine sponsors (a full sponsor list can be found here: https://cvent.me/XZyxra?RefId=Event-Sponsors-Mention), the 2024 Nebraska Brain Injury Conference was a great way to educate oneself about current brain injury topics and connect with the brain injury community at large.
Over the course of the conference, participants interacted with over 24 exhibitors in addition to the many speakers and other attendees present at the event. Sponsors and exhibitors provided a variety of prizes for networking raffle activities to further boost engagement and connection opportunities for participants.
Below are a few comments received from attendees as part of the event’s feedback survey:
“It’s refreshing that sooo [sic] many people working individually care so much about the brain injured and collectively are doing their best to improve the lives of the brain injured and their families!”
“I loved how personable the speakers were. They answered questions well. They related their presentations to personal experience and made everything easy to understand. Everyone was very knowledgeable and kind. I loved how resources were shared after presentations, so people seeking information have easy access."
Host and Executive Director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska, Peggy Reisher remarks, “Each year we look forward to bringing individuals with brain injury, their families, and professionals together for this conference. It is a great time to connect and learn from some amazing speakers."
The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska hopes to continue to grow and improve this and is always on the lookout for topic suggestions, speakers, and sponsors. A call for speakers for the 2025 event will begin in mid-April.
